The ChymeBots integration with Skype and Skype for Business brings all the enterprise ChymeBots to you on demand.  All the natural language enabled enterprise bots that you have come to enjoy can be accessed via the Skype client now.  Create your own brand bot and connect it to Chyme and automate all your queries and tasks.  You can also have group conversations in Skype with your colleagues and the bot by simply @mentioning the bot.

Note: To access the Skype-ChymeBot application, your team administrator should configure Chyme integration in Skype and enable Skype access in Chyme.  The earlier edition of Lync (On premise) is also supported.  For both Skype for Business and Lync, an additional Windows Service needs to be installed and configured in the Azure cloud or your data center.

What interactions can I have with ChymeBot from Skype?

You can access all ChymeBot bots from all editions of Skype.  You can engage with your customers and provide prompt and friendly help with a ChymeBot on Skype (consumer).  For employees to access HR, Finance and other systems quickly and privately, enable ChymeBot on Skype for Business (via Office 365) or on Lync.

ChymeBot on Skype is natural language enabled. Go ahead and have a conversation with any activated ChymeBot to check your leave balance on SAP HR and create a leave request for tomorrow.  Or check the incidents you need to work on in ServiceNow.  ChymeBot can connect Skype to any enterprise system with limitless possibilities.

Great, how do I associate my Skype or Skype for business account with ChymeBot?

Follow these simple steps.

  1. You need a Chyme account to get started, if you don’t have one click here to ChymeIn!
  2. Now create your “brand” (company, product or any alternative) ChymeBot in the Skype configuration pages.  If you need some assistance, just follow the instructions in the Chyme User Guide and Chyme Admin Guide to complete the same.
  3. Once configured and activated by your administrator, you can just login to your Chyme account on the web and click on the Messenger icon.  From the available messengers click on the “Add to Skype” button of the required messenger and start conversing.

Note that once you start the activation process, the OAuth page from Skype will be displayed requesting for certain permissions that you need to authorize.

Why do you need these permissions? Is my data safe?

These permissions are required for posting messages (answers) back to you.  Responses from the ChymeBot are sent back as messages to Skype from your own ChymeBot.  Your ChymeBot can also receive files that you want to upload and also sends you attachments such as invoices etc. from enterprise systems to you.

None of your data is used for any purpose other than what you have authorized.  Now that everything is clear, go ahead and authorize the app.  You will be redirected to the ChymeBot page after successful activation.

How do I use the ChymeBot from Skype?

  1. Search your contacts for your own ChymeBot that your administrator has configured.  For e.g. if the bot is called ChymeBot, you should be able to search for ChymeBot in you contacts and add it to your DM list.  In case you don’t find it, login to Chyme / or request your administrator for a link to the “Add to Skype” button and click on that.  Once the activation process is complete your Skype – Chyme account will be ready to take your requests.
  2. Type in help and hit enter.  Welcome message for this bot will be displayed and you can get started.
  3. Depending on the functionality activated for you in Chyme, you can access all of them with natural language.  For example “Get my incidents” will retrieve incidents assigned to you from ServiceNow.
